"I felt truly heard and understood. Every step of the process was explained in simple, professional terms, and I was empowered to take control of my care. It wasn’t just an MRI—it was a partnership where I felt safe, informed, and in charge.”

FAQs

I notice you offer hypnosis. Do I have to have it?
Absolutely not. Hypnosis is just one of several tools we offer to help reduce anxiety—it’s entirely optional. Our experienced radiographers conduct the telephone consultation so you speak directly with experts who will explain every option, ensuring you remain in full control.

Are there any after effects of the hypnosis? Will I be able to drive home afterwards?
Not at all. Our clinical approach to medical hypnosis produces no side effects, and you will be safe to drive home after your session. This isn’t stage hypnosis—think of it as a gentle relaxation technique designed to “turn down the dial” on anxiety.

Do I need to have done hypnosis or guided meditation before?
Absolutely not. We support you every step of the way, and our techniques are designed to be easy to follow. Many patients find that the relaxation skills they learn here benefit them in other areas of their lives.

Can I bring a friend or relative for support?
Yes, absolutely! Having a familiar face with you can make a big difference. Everyone entering the MRI environment will undergo safety screening, which we will discuss during your consultation. (Please note that children under 16 cannot be left unaccompanied in our reception areas.)

I don’t think I can bring someone, but I’d really appreciate having support during the scan.
We completely understand. If you’re unable to have a friend or family member accompany you, a member of our dedicated team—someone you’ve already spoken with on the phone—will be with you throughout the scan to ensure you feel supported.

Will you provide me with the results on the day?
While we understand your eagerness, full reports and diagnostic results are not available on the day of your scan. The images are carefully reviewed by specialist radiologists, and your results will be provided by your clinical referrer.

Is your scanner closed at one end?
No, our scanner is completely open at both ends. Our wide-bore design offers plenty of space around you, ensuring a more comfortable experience compared to older, confined MRI scanners.

Can I bring my own eye mask?
Absolutely! Provided your eye mask is MRI safe (no metal clips, etc.), you’re welcome to bring it along. If you forget, we offer single-use eye coverings at no extra cost. Your comfort is our priority.

Will I be going in head first or feet first?
This depends on the region being scanned and your clinical needs. We’ll discuss your positioning options during your consultation to ensure you’re fully informed and comfortable.

I’ve heard there are mirrors so I can see out of the scanner. Is this true?
Yes, some scanners include a mirror that allows you to view the outside during your scan. Often, however, your head will be positioned outside the scanner already. For some patients, the mirror is a real game changer by providing extra reassurance.

Can I bring my own music with me?
Due to restrictions in the MRI environment, we may not be able to connect your personal device directly. However, we can stream music of your choice. And don’t worry—if your playlist happens to include some “dodgy” tracks, our team won’t judge 😊.

Do I have to listen to music during my scan?
Not at all. The choice is entirely yours. Some patients find music a helpful distraction, while others prefer silence, the natural sounds of the scanner, or spoken word content. Whatever you prefer, you remain in control.

How long will my scan be?
During your telephone consultation, we’ll explain every aspect of your scan—including the overall duration—and provide a confirmation with all the details prior to your appointment.

Is your facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes, our site is fully wheelchair accessible. We also have an MRI-safe wheelchair available, ensuring that everyone receives safe and comfortable care.

Could I stop the scan if I want to?
Yes, you are always in control. You can pause or stop the scan at any time by using the call buzzer provided. We continuously check in with you to ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout.
